A real hairy issue among uni students
By John Isaac
We all know that most university students live on very tight budgets and even RM10 makes a huge difference for most of them.
Imagine you have your last 100 bucks and then you get fined - just because your hair is too long!
Well, that is exactly what happened to two students of local universities recently.
In the first incident, a student from a local university took to Twitter to vent his frustrations how he was fined RM25 for having long hair.
After his tweet went viral, another local university students shared how he was fined RM100 for the similar offence!
While local universities do have certain dress codes for their students, many expressed outrage, saying they should at least be given a warning.
"Losing RM100 just like that is unacceptable. For most of us, that RM100 will last us a week," said a student.
According to some local university websites, students can be slapped with a fine of up to RM200 for violating university rules.
However, the same does not apply to private colleges which are much more liberal.
"Fine. We understand if they have rules. But please also understand that most of us cannot afford such amounts," wrote another student.
Well, what do you guys think. Should universities impose such fines on students?
