Passing an exam is enough to make some parents proud but to some, even an A is not enough.

As an Asian, getting scolded for not getting the highest marks is becoming more common.

But what happened to a 12-year-old boy in China is just too much!

The boy was abandoned on the streets by his mother after he did not score well enough in his exam.

Police were alerted to the scene after residents said a woman drove off and dropping her child in the middle of a street.

According to reports, the strict mother was seen beating her son before driving off and leaving him behind in the city of Luoyang.

It is believed that the mother left the boy as he only manage to score 81% in his exam when she expected him to get at least 95%.

The police called the mother in the hope that she will pick her son back but they did not expect her response.

"I don't want him anymore! You can do whatever you want with him. You can even charge me," the mother said.

Dissatisfied with the mother's response, the police chided her for being an irresponsible mother and advised her to be patient but it was of no use as the mother still refused to accept her son back.

The child spent an hour at the police station before being picked up by his uncle. It is unclear if the mother would be charged.
